Our Story
Advent Lutheran Church is a community of people who share the love of Jesus Christ. For nearly 50 years we have touched people at every age and stage of their life through worship, fellowship, education and service to those in need.
Advent is one of the largest and most dynamic congregations of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Southeast Florida, serving over 1500 members and countless visitors.
Our History
Advent Lutheran Church was founded in 1960 and planted amongst the pineapple fields of Yamato Road. The church grew under the leadership of Senior Pastor Ron Dingle as it reached out to and served the many people coming to the rapidly developing community of Boca Raton. Advent became a member of the newly formed Evangelical Lutheran Church in America in 1987.
Recognizing the need for Christian education and childcare in the greater Boca Raton area,
Advent established a kindergarten program in 1968, followed by the Advent Lutheran Middle School in 1972, the Early Childhood School in 1977, and the Advent Elementary School in 1982.
In the late 1970's, Advent responded to the lack of independent living options
for seniors by opening Advent Square Independent Retirement Community,
which includes thirty garden apartments.
Today our 14-acre campus also includes the Advent Life Enrichment Center, after-school and summer camp programs. Whatever your age or stage of life, whether you are looking for a permanent church family or are simply visiting, we hope you join us at Advent, where Jesus is Lord, everybody is somebody, and faith is an Adventure!
