Advent Square Residents Receive Special Blessings as Part of Kids Care Week
Boca Raton, Florida – Residents of Advent Square senior living community each received special “blessing boxes” at a special celebration on October 21. Prepared by students from Advent Lutheran School and members of Advent Lutheran Church, the blessing boxes - which contained hand-written notes, Bible verses, prayer cards, and “survival kit” goodie bags - were made possible by a grant from Kids Care Clubs as part of the Kids Care Week. Family Promise (homeless ministry) also benefitted from the grant.
Celebrated the third week of October (October 19-25, 2008), Kids Care Week recognizes the power of kids to reach out and help others in their local community. “We wanted to let Advent Square residents know that they are a blessing to us,” said Donna Drucker, director of family life ministries at Advent. “This project was the perfect opportunity for us to bring together all of our ministries, which represent every age and stage of life, and to celebrate our senior members at Advent Square.”
The Palm Beach County Kids Care Club is one of more than 1,800 clubs nationwide. Since 1990, Kids Care Clubs, a program of HandsOn Network, has been developing compassion and inspiring a spirit of volunteering in elementary and middle school children.
