Dear People of Advent,

What difference can one little day make?

• In one little day, God created mankind.
• In one little day, God rescued the Israelites from Egypt.
• In one little day, Paul was changed from persecutor to evangelist.
• In one little day God gave you your life.
• And in one little day Jesus gave you eternal life!
• One little day can make a very big difference when it is blessed by God. And in one little day God can help you make a big difference too!

Our stewardship emphasis this year is “one little day-ONE BIG DIFFERENCE.” Stewardship is the word we use to describe the responsibility we have over the things that God has given us-ourselves, our time and our possessions. This year we will focus on the stewardship of our time. We are giving you a challenge this month: Take one little day and make a big difference for your church, your community, and for God!

We invite you to plan, pledge, and offer one day to God’s work wherever you wish, doing whatever you wish. You will find many suggestions enclosed in this mailing and we will be offering a “Make a Big Difference Day” on Sat. Dec. 1 for those who desire to spend the day together in ministry on campus and in the community. But we encourage you to be creative as well. This is your opportunity to do something you have always wanted to do to honor God and bless your neighbor. Please use the enclosed card to make your “one day” pledge. On Sun. Dec. 2 we will give you an opportunity to share with us how that day went!

Good stewardship is also the wise and faithful management of our finances so that we can support God’s church. Enclosed you will find a pledge card that will allow you to indicate your financial commitment to Advent for 2008. These have been challenging financial times for all of us this year and your church has been likewise impacted. Please consider growing your pledge “one step” this year to our General Fund which supports all of our ongoing ministries. We also encourage you to make or maintain a pledge to the AdventOne Building project that we recently completed. Thanks to your generosity we have this beautiful new campus but it will take several years to pay it off! We are confident that our members will make the sacrifices necessary to support their church and the ministries she offers to our community and we know that God will bless you richly as you do so.

You may turn your pledge card into the offering basket or mail it in any time. We will have a special celebration of our commitments and our AdventOne project on Sun., Dec. 2.
