Gifted Program
Create is a program for academically talented students, based on the Parable of the Talents, where Jesus tells us we are to invest and develop our gifts. We at Advent Lutheran School recognize that each child is talented in some way and through our music, art and regular classroom activities, many such gifts are realized. In the Create program, we will provide activities that are not normally done in the classroom in order to help academically talented children realize their interest and potential.
Objectives:
- Children will learn more about their own learning styles so that they will become life long learners.
- Children will learn to take risks in developing answers to problems.
- Children will be exposed to a variety of enriching and challenging activities in all the major subject areas.
Eligibility
Children are recommended to Create by parents and teachers. They are eligible if they score 130 on the Kaufman Brief I.Q. test. The Renzulli scale for rating the behavioral characteristics of superior students, and S.A.T. scores will also be considered in selecting students for Create.
